They did recently reduce the impact of this, however, as caravans were prematurely causing cities to raise prosperity of towns too much, leading to starvation. Things like velvet, jewelry, and whatnot. You can make your town prosperity higher by bringing in vast quantities of goods from other locations, and dumping them on the markets. If your town goes over its prosperity cap, it starts to starve, and people leave, lowering your prosperity to the cap.
If they're unmolested for a long time, your town prosperity cap raises. If your villages are raided, their population dwindles, and your town prosperity cap goes down. More rural population leads to a higher prosperity cap for your town. Essentially, you need to grow your villages, which provide food to your city. More prosperity equates to more food need. Prosperity is essentially the number of citizens in your city. But I don't get it, the prosperity is pretty high and it slowly raises but when I hover over the food tab, it says im -20+ of prosperity daily, so my food gets into negative.
